Spine Center at the Carondelet Neurological Institute

More than 80 percent of people have experienced back pain at some point in their lives, which means there’s a good chance you’re one of them. But many don’t seek treatment until the pain becomes too much to bear. Don’t wait. You shouldn’t have to live with back pain, and the earlier you act, the more we can help.

The Carondelet Neurological Institute Spine Center is a dedicated center focused on a team approach to diagnosing, treating and correcting spine injuries and disorders, using a holistic approach that includes physical therapy, and advanced neurosurgical techniques as needed. Come see what sets us apart.

Spine Center - Physical Therapy

The Carondelet Neurological Institute Spine Center, located on the St. Joseph's Hospital campus, provides specialized, comprehensive care in the treatment of disorders of the spine. Our team of Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants specialize in acute, chronic and post-surgical spine therapy, including but not limited to:

  • Back and Neck Pain
  • Vertebral compression fractures
  • Vertebral instability
  • herniated discs
  • Lumbar stenosis
  • Degenerative Disc Disease

Early intervention with Physical Therapy can have many benefits including increasing activity level, providing education and reassurance, and support in returning to prior activity levels. Physical Therapy can also assist in managing chronic pain by teaching safe exercise programs and lifestyle modifications.

During your on-going treatment you can expect to be treated one-on-one by the same Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant for all of your appointments and receive referrals to specialists for pain management and surgery as needed.

You can schedule an appointment at our clinic by calling (520) 873-6470.

Spine Center - Surgical Care

Before considering surgery, you’ll need to talk with your doctor to provide a complete history, have a comprehensive exam, and get diagnostic tests to determine the cause and extent of your neck or back problem

We always start with conservative, nonsurgical treatments — including physical therapy and pain management — before taking any more intensive steps.

The highly experienced team at The Spine Center delivers coordinated, centralized multi-disciplinary care before and after your spine surgery.  Our goal is to take excellent care of you, from the moment your surgery is scheduled to the completions of outpatient therapy to help you return to an active life.

Once you have scheduled your surgery with Carondelet Neurological Institute Spine Specialist, our Spine Coordinator will be scheduled for “Spine Camp”. This class is approximately 60-90 minutes and is led by our Spine Coordinator and a member of the Physical Therapy Department. Camp is designed to provide you and your support person with comprehensive knowledge of what to expect during and after your surgery, suggestions for preparing at home, and answering questions you may have. We hope you will take advantage of this helpful and free opportunity. We look forward to meeting you.
